How I moved on after my dad died: my success story

When you make a Big Strategic Choice, it’s not about doing something big, once. It’s about making many tough little choices, over and over.

Getting fit, for example – let’s say that’s your Big Strategic Choice. Hitting the gym for one big workout three hours straight would be a bad decision because the next day you’ll be sore all over and you will have no visible results. Instead, you have to make lots of everyday little choices in line with your Big Strategic Choice. That would mean eating an apple instead of a chocolate, and taking the stairs instead of taking the elevator. (More on that in Why the rich are rich and the fat are fat.)

Top 3 biggest financial mistakes to avoid (I made them all)

silly meI never cheated in school.

My parents raised me to be a straight-A student. Not only was it important to have good grades, but also to have those good grades backed up by actual knowledge. Cheating was dishonest, wrong, and probably was one of the seven mortal sins.

Fast-forward to when I’m 25 and Farmville is on everybody’s Facebook. My 10-year old cousin shows me his farm, and it looks straight out of PIMP MY FARM. It’s huge and it’s seriously pimped. He has just about every crop and animal in the game (except maybe a unicorn)… wow! My cousin is a genius.

So I pat Einstein Junior on the shoulder. He grins, then logs out of his account to check… his other accounts? How many of these does he… TWELVE?! And He uses them to… pimp his main account?! Oh God my cousin is a sinner!

Racism and business? Restaurant owner saved business by keeping blacks away

This is a story I found on reddit.com . It’s so fascinating that I just had to share it with you guys.

Original link: http://www.reddit.com

reddit_logoI’ll get it out of the way and admit that what I am doing is racist, I myself am (reluctantly!) a racist, and I’m not about to argue that. I’m not proud of this, but I did what I had to to stay afloat for the sake of my family and my employees and I would do it again.

I own a family restaurant that competes with large chains like Applebee’s, Chili’s, and other similarly awful places. I started this restaurant over 20 years ago, my wife is our manager*, both of my kids work here when they’re not in college. Our whole life is tied up in this place, and while it’s a ton of hard work, we love it.

Relationship advice: money problems and issues

eyes moneyImagine that: even rich couples have money issues. Every couple does. You and your partner will be no exception – especially if you two are still fresh and still discovering each other – because couples just have issues. No way around it.

Lack of money is not the only reason for couples fighting about money. If it were so, then poor couples would account for most of the financial disagreements while wearlthy couples would live happily ever after. But as you can see, the social and financial status of a couple cannot be used as an indicator of how happy the partners are.

So if rich couples fight about money as much as poor couples, then… what do we do?
